PERTH GARDEN, FREMANTLE 1987-1989

Our Perth house was in Freemantle. If I could have packaged Fremantle up and brought it with me I would have been very satisfied. The walls of the Victorian house were made from eighteen-inch limestone blocks and laced iron railed verandah’s on three sides. The house sat on the corner of a large block. This allowed for an expansive garden of roses and fruit trees and areas ready for me to add my herbs, vines and a wonderful variety of natives.  In the middle of the property there was a huge disused windmill.

I wanted to make a space where we could all sit in the garden – my excuse for making these larger versions of my Vence plaster works in and local white cement  limestone.
